Prince melon

Prince melon is man made mating between western melon and eastern makuwauri.
It has the taste of them.
It is not so soft and moderate to chew.

Astroemeria

Astroemeria, commanly called the Peruvian Lily or Lily of Incas, is South American genus.
The genus was named for Swedish baron Claus von Alstroemer.
The flowers of Alstroemeria are generally showy and appear to be suited to pollination by bees.

Shobu

Shobu.
Shobu.

Umemodoki

The leaves and branches of umemodoki tree are smilar to those of ume tree.
The flower of umemodoki is very small.
In autumn it bears red seeds.

Hydragea

The word hydragea comes from the 2 Greek word "hydor" meaning water and "aggeion" meanig vessel.
It was named because seed capsules resemble a small water pitcher.
Japanese "ajisai" means the assembly of small flowers.

Pumpkin

The flower of pumkin opened up in my garden.
This is a female flower.
Soon we will pollinating by hand.

Hichidannka（七段花）

This is a kind of japanese prototype of hydrangea (ajisai) .
It was thought to be extinct.
But it was found wild at Rokko mountain, Koube in the 1950s and cultivated.

Shobu

The flower of Shoubu appears this morning in the wet pond site of my house .
Shobu is believed to bring good fighting result.
We traditionally take bath in shobu leaves for good fortune.

Eggplant

A flower of eggplant comes out in my garden.
Eggplant flowers are typically purple and star-shaped.
The name eggplant came from the fact that the European cultivars were yellow or white and resembled eggs.

Lemon

The lemon has a white, fragrant flower with five petals.
Loemons originally found in Northern India.
Lemon is used to make lemonade and other fabulous recipes.

Clematis

The word clematis is from the Greek and means "vine."
Tessen is a kind of clematis.
In Japan tessen is used as "chabana" ( the flower arrenged at tea ceremony).

Watermelon

Watermelon has male and female flowers.
Which flower is this, male or female ?
A watermelon is no more a fruit than a tomato is.

Persimmon

The flower of persimmon is not so imperssive.
Now it begins to bloom.
Autumn will come when the persimmon turns orenge.

Rue

Rue is a herb and the flower is greenish-yellow.
It's smell is somewhat unpleasant.
It is well knonw for its insect-repelling ability.

Tomato

The flower of tomato is yellow.
It will bear fruits 40-50 days after blooming.
The hot summer will come with the red fruits of tomatoes.

Green pepper

Japanese name "peman" comes from French " piment".
Englishi name is green pepper.
Its white flower is prety.

Satsuki

The season of Hirado tsutsuji is over.
Satsuki tsutsuji begins to bloom.
The peak of the bloom will come soon.

Dokudami

Dokudami is natural herb used to treet many kinds of disease from acinet times.
It has no unwelcome side effects.
The brewing dry docudami is my favorite tea.

Kishobu

This is shobu of which clour is yellow, so it is called "Kishobu".
The shobu has thick lines on the back of leaves.
That's the point of distinguiching shobu from Ayame.

Calla

The name of Calla comes from Greek kallos meaning "beauty".
The flower looks neat and clean.
The white color is impressive.

Ego

The taste of this tree is "Egui" in Japanese.
So the tree is called "Ego".
Small white flowers are neat and clean.

Potato

The potato and tomato belong to the same botanical family.
The potato flower looks very much like the tomato flower.
The potato is said "Jagaimo" in Japanese, for it came to Japan from Jakarta (Jagatara) , Indonesia.

Kabosu

Kabosu is the speciality of Ooita prefecture.
This was planted in my garden last year.
It blooms this year for the first time.

Mikan

Flowers of Mikan begin to bloom.
The smell of them are sweet.
They remind me of the children' song " Mikanno Hanasaku Oka".

Ayame

It's difficult for me to tell the difference between Ayame and Iris.
This picture is Ayame.
That's why my wife says.

It is the last day of our plan leaving Kobushigoya and going to Nishizawa glen.

We share our joy for this thrilling achievement with drink a toast at Enzanonsen.

Mt. Fuji from the summit of Mt. Kinpu

Mt. Fuji is standing nobly our left side all the day.
This is Mt. Fuji just after dawn around 5:30 a.m at the summit of Mt. Kinpu.
Deep remaining snow forces us to put climbing iron under the shoes during 12 hours walking from kinpouzangoya to Kobushi goya.

Mt.Yatsugadake range From the top of Mt.Mizugaki

Our 6 members of Kamoshika climbing group are going to traverse Okuchichibu from Mt. Mizugaki to Mt. Kobushi via Mt. Kinpu.
To day is our first day of trecking and go from Mizugakisanso to Kinpouzangoya.
The top of Mt. Mizugaki commands an extensive prospect of Mt. Yatsugatake mountain rainge.

Miyakowasure

In Kmakura era, Emperor Juntoku was exiled from Kyoto to Sado.
On his way to the island he saw this flower and said " If this flower was besides me,
I would be able to forget the capital, Miyako."
His comment gave this flowers name " Miyakowasure".

Rose

A rose blooms.

Shiran

Shiran means literally violet orchid.
But it is strange there is white one.
It will be found at the corner of most garden.
